Have a Wizarding Weekend in Carrickfergus

Join a wizardly crew at Carrickfergus Castle for a fun weekend celebrating the love of the Harry Potter movies on Saturday 13 January and Sunday 14 January.

The Department for Communities is transforming Carrickfergus Castle into a magical world of wizardry, spells and wandcraft, where you will be introduced to Hogwart’s classes on potion making, broomstick and wand training. And its not just for the young but the young at heart too. The Wizarding Weekend is brought to you through dedicated and talented members of the Emerald Garrison and World of Owls will also be there (how are you going to send your magical letters!)

There are a number of sessions lasting about 2 hours where attendees will learn about their wand, cast spells and fly their broomstick and craft potions.

Be careful though, as Death Eaters may be lurking in the dark corners ready to do the bidding of He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named.

There are two wizarding sessions each day, 10-12pm and 2-4pm. Tickets cost £17.50 per person with group discounts available. You can buy your tickets online but be quick! They are almost all gone. There will be no general entry to the castle for the duration of the 13th and 14th of January 2018. For this reason, standard entrance fees do not apply and any person, regardless of age, will require a ticket.

Please note that this event may have elements that could frighten young children. For this reason, this event is for ages 5+. All attendees under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Due to the historic nature of the castle, there are no lifts available to access areas of the castle included in the event. If you require wheelchair access, please phone 028 90 823 207.

Staff at the Department for Communities are working in partnership with Mid and East Antrim Council on the event.

Further information or queries should be directed to wizarding@communities-ni.gov.uk or 028 9082 3207.
