ALBUM REVIEW: DIRTY VERTEBRAE New EP ‘TENSE’ Ready To Start “Wormin” In Your ear

Dirty Vertebrae’s new 3-track EP ‘TENSE’ will be released on Friday 6th December via The Animal Farm, along with the video release of ‘NEWS AT 10 as its first single. These will pave the way for further releases in the New Year.

The first track ‘NEWS AT 10’ satirise the way that the news only feeds us negatives.  It is has an upbeat jive feel pulling you into a fast paced rap from Ash P only to have the chorus mesmerize you with silky smooth soaring vocals from Nicole. This is an incredibly catchy tune that will stick with you for a very long time.

TIPPEX’ funks you up with Nicole’s superb vocals and expertly switches to Ash P coming in with a fast paced rat tat tat rhyming. The track then kicks you in the face with some hard sounding rocking out. It swirls in and out of an easy listening funky guitar style before stomping back into a solid headbanging rhythm. It has a Limp Bizkit vibe

Last but not least ‘WORMIN’’ brings you into a reggae like musical style as the vocal rapping gives you a real raggamuffin feel. Slowly it builds up for a chorus that kicks into a real solid rock rhythm. The track is just superb.

The EP is short but a very, very sweet blend of styles for your earholes. Ash P and Nicole’s vocal skills compliment each other perfectly. The three tracks combine sharp, rapid-fire staccato socially aware rap with a Northern twang, post-melodic grunge rock and some reggae/Ska thrown in for good measure. All three tracks are memorable, catchy and full of high energy fun. They will definitely be songs that you have to see live as you can beat your bottom dollar everyone will be singing along with pure funked up joy. The sound is clear, tight and professional.

Full of witty lyricism, inventive wordplay, soaring melodies, soulful guitar, neck-nodding bass and funky drum work, this is one EP that you can not miss out on and can be best described as a gateway to the world that is Dirty Vertebrae. It is just outstandingly excellent and feels like Eminem was born in the North West of England could only find a rock band to join, pulled in a northern soul singer and then stirred it all together. In true The Fast Show style, they are “a little bit werrrr, a little bit weyyyyyy, a little bit arrrrgggh”.

Dirty Vertebrae are a band to watch out for.

Dirty Vertebrae are made up of singer Nicole, rapper Ash P, drummer Scott, bassist Gaz and guitarist Chris, who were all born within a few miles of each other near Northwich in Cheshire.

Dirty Vertebrae set their sights on becoming a great live act. The band have paid their dues and honed their craft, clocking up thousands of hours in the van, the studio, the rehearsal room, in venues and fields, playing everywhere twice then going back for more! DV have also become firm favourites on the festival scene, making successful festival appearances at Bearded Theory, Beautiful Days, Something to Smile About, CarFest, Deerstock, Equinox and Shrewsbury Fields Forever and their performances earned them repeat slots every year. “A show-stopper every time!” as Deerstock Festival put it.
