SINGLES: A Deadly “Snakebite” Comes From AXIS
Serbian rockers AXiS drop their single “Snakebite” from their album “First Punch“. And it is awesome.
Simply put, if BLACK SABBATH went down a more bluesy road they would be AXiS. “Snakebite” starts with a beautiful bluesy slow rhythm like “Black sabbath” or “Lord Of This World” and just keeps that raw doom laden riffage going throughout the song. The slightly fuzzy vocal accompaniment perfectly underlines this gravelike blues psychedelia as the guitar solos reverberate out of your speakers and round your room. Its a journey of incredible melancholic beauty. If you even remotely enjoy BLACK SABBATH (and really, who doesn’t??) then you need to not only get single, you need to get the album. This has a massive thumbs up for taking you on a darker side of blues rock.
Raw, strong and bold – these are the words that characterize the Romanian-Serbian trio, with roots in a little Serbian town, named Kladovo, situated at the shore of the Danube, but whose soul wanders around the American grouds, where the blues was born.
Although the influences are obvious, AXiS gives the meaning of blues a new perspective – somehow like a wolf in sheep’s clothing – that gives the trio an unique flair on the current romanian music market.
The band recorded its first album around fall 2016 in a boheme studio located in Belgrade’s suburbs. Being recorded live, with only small retouches, the band’s debut album is designed to express the primordial, scorching and direct sound that takes birth when the band members put their imagination together. 2017 marked the bands most active year, playing almost all the blues festivals in Romania, like: Focșani Blues Festival, Open Air Blues Festival Brezoi, WolfBlues Gărâna, Blues Con-Fusion Suceava, Jimbo Blues Jimbolia.
In the spring of 2018, AXiS was the ambassador of Romania at the European Blues Challange, in Hell, Norway, ‘Blues in Hell’. The arrival of spring also marks the release of their debut album, First Punch.
