ALBUM REVIEW: Cirkus Prütz “Manifesto” is a High Roller of an Album
Swedish blues rockers Cirkus Prütz upcoming studio album “Manifesto“ will be released internationally on April 18th via Metalville Records. they have already released a few singles like “White Knuckle Blues” and “Handyman Blues”
And it was a lovely surprise to find an review copy sitting in the inbox for me to have a listen to. Having loved both previous singles, would it be a case of those were the only two good songs or did Cirkus Prütz have more in their repertoire than that?
Well, yes. In fact a further eight songs of pure blues rock joy.
“White Knuckle Blues” kicks off the album with an absolute hard rock blues blast to rev up the adrenaline. It just has a wonderful feel of a catchy mix of ZZ Top and AC/DC that just hits the spot. “Drinking Muddy Water” has a real whisky groove starting stripped back before the best kicks in, and boy does it with a fast paced thrumming drum beat and a rolling guitar rhythm. The solo is just a sweeping bluesy piece of genius playing and the breakdowns are just toe-tappingly joyous.
Next comes “Handyman Boogie“, just released as a single, and it is a sunset strip blues breakdown with sliding guitar and a Motley Crue groove, you can’t help but smile and think of sun and hard whisky. It is a raucous hard blues tune that is full of fun and a real slamming track especially when that sliding guitar lets rip. Check it out now while you are waiting for the album. “Walking In The Rain” takes the tempo right down, with a slow reflective style that has a slight melancholy taste to it as it holds your hand as it touches your soul in that contemplative way where you just take a moment to chill out.
“The Blues Is The Cure” is a real rumbling blues track with a rolling rhythm that just gets you foot tapping it out. The guitar solo is just beautiful, sweeping and keeps the whole track together. “Living Like A God” is a lightening rock blues track that has a pace that perfectly fits a motorcycle ride on a wide empty road and feels almost like an anthemic film track. “Twenty4Seven Blues” is a chugging blues while it rocks along the vocals continue to rumbled through and it all kicks in so well. Great tune that just thunders through the speaker.
“Pack Your Bags” drops in a bit heavier but with that inimitable blues chug that catches you and hauls you along. A fantastic Las Vegas style piece of southern blues rock. As is “High Roller“, which keeps that heavy ZZ Top southern style. It rock and rolls its way along with an incredible catchy riff that will have you you rocking around your living room.
Finishing off the album is “Water Into Wine” is a slow toe tap of a song that just swings along in that chilled fashion that’s just pure fulsome souled up blues. A perfect finish.
