NEWS: With A Smirk And A Wink, LICK CREEK Prove They Are Just “Too Damn Country”
Springfield, Illinois rockers LICK CREEK‘s first full album ‘Too Damn Country‘ is now available on all streaming sites and at lickcreekcountry.com.
You’ll be hard pressed to get tired of hearing this album with an exciting mix of bluegrass, southern rock, delta blues, country, and rock. This album has more hooks than a tackle box. More slides than a water park. It’ll have you tapping your toes, curtsy for a do-si-do, playing air guitar, and bobbing your head.
It definitely has that Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chris Stapleton, Cody Jinks, Eric Church, Cadillac Sky, Steel Woods feel about it.
From the infuriatingly catchy “Too Damn Country” with pure country sound and southern rock vibes, it has a fun light hearted trippiness to and sounds like Garth Brooks at his best, “Holy Water” has a fantastic slide guitar bluegrass soulful gospel sound to it, and “Anna Lynn” is an incredible melancholic love song that just reaches right down deep into your soul.
Started by Lance Stone, Lick Creek was formed in December of 2013. He started Lick Creek with the vision that covers would be the beginning but originals were the ultimate goal. In March of 2014, Maddie was added as a female counterpart. Within two months, their unique sound had them opening for many national acts like David Nail, Aaron Lewis, Steel Woods, Cody Jinks and many more. Feeling the urge to be the headliner and not the opener, they wrote their very first original ‘Bend’.
Fast forward to early 2017, they recorded their first EP, self titled, “Lick Creek“. The EP single ‘Let Me Be’ got them a little national notoriety when they entered ‘Nash Next’ competition put on by Cumulus Radio Group & Big Machine Records. In a 5 month long process, they made it down to 10 bands out of 1750 national acts. The finals were held in Nashville, Tn at the Wildhorse Saloon. The judges consisted of big names like Desmond Child, Kix Brooks, Scott Brochetta, and Brantley Gilbert. Kix Brooks was especially pleased with them and had nothing but good words about their future as a band.
With the small but exciting success they had on the first EP “Lick Creek” was ready to make a new album. In the fall of 2018 they hit the studio and started creating ‘Too Damn Country‘. After 9 months of hard work the album was released on June 14, 2019 to an excited fan base. With 2 new videos already out and 1 more on the way, the band is working hard to make sure you take a dip in the cool waters of Lick Creek.
