NEWS: Eie Releases Single “We Speak, We Bleed” from Debut Album
“My Tongue Is Stuck to the Roof of My Mouth And That Is All I Can Think About” is the name of eie’s long awaited debut album, released on Apollon Records. Eie combines noisy guitars and drums with hard-hitting lyrics about unhealthy and destructive habits – As well as criticism of people unaware of their own privilege and the power and responsibility that comes with it. Melodic vocals in one song, slam poetry in the next, as well as atmospheric autoharp and the occasional theremin.
Eie wants to push the expectations of the rock genre and summarize their sound as Gothic Grunge. Eie released their first EP in March 2023, followed by a handful of singles. Their music is, in many ways, an extension of their activism and personal values. This album is no exception. Examples are the first two singles of the album: “Get it?”, a sarcastic response to the people trying to limit the rights and spaces of queer people and “Because”, a confrontational cry about rape culture. The album title is a line from the third single, “We Speak, We Bleed”, a tragic romantic telling of anxiety and how it can manifest physically in a person.
Performed by Emilie Eie, Harald Harestad, Anna Klungre, Ariel Aarstad and Andreas Mikkelsen, with guest vocals by Herman van Opdorp (Get it?, We Speak, We Bleed, Hellcat) and Oliver Hohlbrugger (Never Home).
