NEWS: BETTER THAN THE BOOK releases “The Travelling To See Eva Song” From Forthcoming Album “Hopes And Dreams”
UK-based ska-punk/pop-punk act BETTER THAN THE BOOK has released “(The Travelling To See Eva Song)”, the third and final single from his forthcoming sophomore album, “Hopes and Dreams”, to be released 19 July 2019.
“(The Travelling To See Eva Song)” is one of the tracks on the record that’s more reminiscent of BETTER THAN THE BOOK’s ska-punk roots. In regards to the lyrical content, it’s also one of the tracks that talks about a different aspect of Nick’s life – more specifically, his previous experience in a long-distance relationship and the feelings it can evoke in someone who is going through that, especially with a romantic partner.
“It follows the thoughts in my head as I’d catch the train to see the love of my life back when we were doing long distance. It’s definitely one of the more fun and less serious tracks on the album, encompassing all those feelings of excitement, joy, and slight nervousness when going half-way across the country to see my significant other back in the day.”
Musically, it’s not only one of the many fun, upbeat, and generally happier-sounding tracks found on “Hopes and Dreams”, but also one of the slightly more experimental ones you’ll hear on the record, featuring an organ solo and a blend of that and electric guitar, as well as some rapped vocals in the background accompanying and complimenting the sung vocals on the track.
BETTER THAN THE BOOK is a ska-punk/pop-punk musical project by UK based multi-instrumentalist, producer and audio engineer, Nick Standing (AKA Jabun).
Starting in mid 2012, BETTER THAN THE BOOK formed as a means of catharsis for difficulties in Nick’s life, as can be heard in many of the lyrics from his 2012 debut EP “One Small Step” and 2016 debut LP “Two Years On”, as well as his upcoming sophomore album “Hopes and Dreams”, due to be released in the summer of 2019.
With the goal of getting people pumped up for living life to the full via high-energy instrumentals and honest relatable lyrics about Nick’s own experiences, Better Than The Book has been on a mission to create heartfelt anthems to inspire and help people know that they aren’t alone with their worries or the problems they face. That along with various stories about life and living make up what it means to be Better Than The Book.
