NEWS: AT THE SUN Dazzle You With “Leave Before The Light”
There’s a new dawn on the horizon! Both AT THE SUN and their growing army of fans are looking forward to the release of the blues-infused rock band’s debut album ‘Leave Before the Light’, which will drop on Friday 8th March, 2019.
AT THE SUN have pulled out all the stops to make their debut one to remember: music, message; look and feel. The whole package matters, so they’ve put a lot of effort into getting things right, for the fans, to capture the heart and soul of the band. That includes the artwork, so ATS are proud to announce and reveal the stunning artwork they commissioned for ‘Leave Before the Light’, which features here where you can also hear their latest single ‘Lay It On Me’
AT THE SUN sought out a talented artist, illustrator and colourist. As the band put it, ‘We wanted this album to be something special visually so we worked with an amazing artist – Paulina Vassileva – to do a completely hand-drawn and inked album cover. It’s been an ambitious undertaking but you only get one debut album, so just like we did with the music we wanted to put our all into the design. We’ve never been a band comfortable to just blend in: we want to stand out in everything we do!’
Paulina Vassileva is a freelance artist and illustrator, with a striking, fluid style, a strong sense of colour, and a taste for art nouveau that influences her own, modern original work. The band felt that Paulina’s vibrant style made a great match for their work and can’t wait for their fans and the public to see the finished look of the album, as well as the drive, verve, musicianship, and content that the band are noted for in its tracks.
In anticipation of the album, AT THE SUN recently released ‘Lay It On Me’ as a single.
‘Lay It On Me‘ was one of those songs that just flowed naturally during the writing session for the new album,” explains the band, “From the first riff to the fist-pumping ending, this track really encompasses everything we love as a band. We couldn’t think of a better song to bring a close to such an amazing year for us as 2018 and set everything up for the release of ‘Leave Before the Light’ in 2019!”

AT THE SUN
Picture a scene: The Black Crowes sharing a beer with Black Stone Cherry, whilst AC/DC and Guns N Roses play pool in the corner. That’ll give you an idea of what to expect from AT THE SUN! Five focused, expressive London guys, mixing up heavy, dirty guitars, pounding rhythms, soaring vocals and ripping solos to make one of the UK’s brightest new bands. In a world of social media madness, instant gratification, constant notifications and everyone’s 15 seconds of fame, AT THE SUN focus on one thing: creating powerful, long-lasting music.
“For us, it’s all about making music people can move to – music they can really feel!” says founder Kieron Heavens, “We don’t buy into the idea of just getting things out there quickly; we take our time to make sure everything we do is the best it can be.” After a long (and sometimes frustrating!) search for the right musicians and line-up, Harry Dale (Vocals), Alex Matthews (Bass), Chet Jogia (Lead Guitar), Craig Steen (Drums) and Kieron Heavens (Rhythm Guitar) released their debut 4-track EP in 2017, gaining radio play on the likes of Planet Rock, Hard Rock Hell and Total Rock amongst others.
Described by critics as being “head and shoulders above other bands in the contemporary rock scene” and “a band you don’t want to miss out on”, the lads knew they were onto something with their unique flavour of rock ‘n’ roll. 2017 and 2018 have seen this up-and-coming band build a strong following around the UK by doing what they believe in, engaging with their fans wherever they go. An AT THE SUN show is not just about the time the band are on stage, it’s about meeting fans, sharing beers and making sure everyone enjoys the experience.
As frontman, Harry explains. “We want fans to be the driving force for the band, including them in the journey all the way, so we are all one with the music.” In early 2018, despite their tender years as a band, AT THE SUN gave it their all to come third in the Hard Rock Hell Highway To Hell competition, competing against over 200 other bands, culminating in a live final at the O2 Academy Sheffield. What made this so special for AT THE SUN is the fact the competition was voted for by the fans: a testament to the relationships and following the group have worked so hard to build. The band’s next chapter looms on the horizon, with the debut album “Leave Before The Light” scheduled to be released in early 2019, then a headline tour to follow.
This will be their biggest tour yet, with the band hitting more cities, meeting more people and putting them one step closer to realising their dream – to be one of the biggest bands in the world!”
