INTERVIEW: Cary Parsons of DARK REMEDY Talks About His Move From the Ring to the Music Stage
We were delighted to have a chance to take a moment with Cary Parsons (AKA Mister Sinister in his wrestling guise) of Dark Remedy. A band that is a powerhouse in the world of melodic hard rock pumping out music non-stop. They have released a new single recently “Let Me Go” via Wake Up! Music Rocks!
Read the interview below to see a little bit behind the curtain of this incredibly busy rock band.
Thanks very much, Cary, for the interview. To kick things off just a bit of background for those reading this. You are a Realtor, a wrestler and a rocker. That’s a busy life; how do you find how they all fit together?
Thank you for having me. That is definitely an issue, managing all the pieces. When I decided I wanted to go the distance with Dark Remedy and try to make this band really something special, I realized I had a lot on my plate. I owned a real estate firm and a title company as well as vacation rentals all in Orlando. I sold the real estate firm and title company and I’m the process of selling the rentals. My focus is 100 percent on Dark Remedy, and wrestling fits in when I can fit it in.
I heard that it was during our time inside due to Covid that you formed the band, what was the moment that made you want to found Dark Remedy?
The moment was when all of our show plans with my other band were cancelled, Steven and I decided that this was our moment to finally get to write songs together, so the name Dark Remedy comes from it being Dark times and this was our Remedy, we hope our music is a Remedy for our fans to get through whatever life may be throwing at them.
How would you describe your style? Or would you not really see Dark Remedy as part of a style or a genre?
I try not to get too wrapped up in genres and comparisons. Our more recent material since bringing JRod in is getting comparisons to Rain City Drive, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, for us it’s really about the melody, the hook, the riff. We want to move you!
Dark remedy has been dropping single after single every year since 2023, with songs like “Guilty as Charged”, “Now or Never”, “Right Back to You”, “Haunted” and the latest “Let Me Go”, just released February 2025. Each one has a very arena feel to it, lending themselves to fans joining in. How do you find that rhythm and sound? What’s the music and writing process?
The process is different every time, sometimes I will have a demo of my idea and bring it to the guys and producer and we will hash it out, sometimes JRod myself and our producer will write something from scratch together. It’s basically a snapshot into that moment in time, what we may be going through, we also shoot to be as authentic as possible.
When will we see an album dropping? Or do you think releasing singles are a good way to go? Especially how getting music out to the masses seems to have changed.
We honestly don’t know. Right now it seems singles are the way to go for building momentum and we’ve had a lot of success doing that. Eventually we would love to release an album.
Has music changed pre and post covid in any way to you?
A lot has changed since Covid for every aspect of our lives. However with music, it has made me appreciate the connection we have with people’s lives all the more.
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions for our readers. I hope your star continues to rise. And maybe one day we will get to see Dark Remedy over on this side of the big pond – a home to rock and wrestling.
We would love to come see you! And we greatly appreciate your support! And to the fans, we see you, and we love you
