Heavy Mongol Metal from Tengger Cavalry – War Horse

Named after the sky god of Mongolian shamanism, Tengger Cavalry blends overtone throat singing, Mongolian horse-head fiddle and other nomadic music tradition of Central Asia with heavy rock music, creating a crossover genre – Nomadic Folk Metal
Current lineup:
Nature Ganganbaigal (vocal & guitar)
Alex Abayev (bass)
Josh Schifris (drum)
Uljmuren (fiddle)
Robert McLaughlin (fiddle)
One of the first songs I ever heard from these guys was War Horse. They have however updated the song and there are now two versions. The 2012 version, which is epically explosive, hard, heavy and it is a beautiful blend of folk and metal. The 2016 version leans more on the folksy side of mongolian traditional music and throat singing, or Tuvan, and whilst still beautifully evocative, I much prefer the 2012 version

Also find them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and of course YouTube
