ALBUM REVIEW: Milk White Throat deliver a real ‘House of Fire’ with new EP

With a massive drum-roll Milk White Throat begin the onslaught on their new EP “House of Fire” delivering the superb rocking track  “Nearly Alive”. It flows natuarlly with a fast assault of speeding guitar and thunderous drums before it sways back and forth with  slow honeyed ballad like singing before punching you in the face with visceral anger driven vocals. Overall clean, direct and hard hitting it’s a great track.

On into “Future History” as it takes a slow swaying journey towards an inevitable heavy groove with controlled aggressively passionate vocals. A great track with a rock filled hard hitting feel throughout. The guitars, bass and drums fill the whole song with an belligerent energy that just drives it on.

Finally comes “House of Fire” with a beautiful almost psychedelic guitar intro as softly delivered dreamlike vocals float in over it before a heavy slow groove layers itself on top creating an artistic wall of noise. It slows in between the two styles to create a musical ebb and flow that is difficult to turn away from. It stays on the edge the whole time as if damning up a massive amount of energy just ready to burst the banks.

Overall an excellent EP from Milk White Throat that is tight fully controlled and incredibly well delivered. it is grooved up to the heights. Definitely one for the collection.

Established in 2011, three-piece Alternative Progressive Rock band Milk White Throat released their eponymous EP that year, followed by the self produced debut album ‘Death of Beauty’ in 2014 written, recorded and produced by the band themselves.

Like most aspiring musicians, the band met through the local live music scene in Brighton, playing shows together whilst in different groups. After a number of lineup changes and iterations, they formed what has become their current lineup.

With a passion for progressive and classic rock, the trio draw influence from a wide range of artists from The Mars Volta, Neurosis and Tool, to Tom Waits, Jeff Buckley and Nick Cave.

Milk White Throat strive to create exciting, original music that is succinct and crucially relevant in the live arena, making the music that inspires them and bringing sincere energy and passion to their live shows.

This passion has been brought into their latest EP ‘House of Fire‘ out now.
