ALBUM REVIEW: ASCENDERS Are Looking For A Fight With Their Hard Rocking EP
Young hard-rock four-piece from Geneva, Switzerland launched in 2016 and inspired by the biggest names and bands from the hard-rock/heavy-metal scene, Ascenders just officially released their debut EP called ‘Let Me Fight’ for CD through their own website and digital for the main digital services.
The EP has 5 great heavy and hard stomping tracks with Riding Out of Hell, Let Me Fight, Will Of Steel, Thunderstorm and Horns of Terror delivering a ferocious hard rock sound that will blow you away.
They sound like the lovechild of Lordi and Airbourne with gravelly gritty vocals reminiscent of the Finnish shock rock group and the supercharged hard rock energy of the Australian Duracell bunnies. Each song just oozes a high punk-like energic headbangability.
“Riding Out of Hell has such catchy riffs and a hard and fast drum beat that you will be up on your feet swinging that head up and down before you know it. Title track “Let Me Fight” is full of aggressive pumping rhythm and riffs. “Will Of Steel” has a wonderful traditional hard rock blues intro, rhythmic and slow but builds a full head of steam as the unstoppable rock and roll train chugs along.
The Penultimate “Thunderstorm” is fast, furious and high energy with an impishly punk feel, whilst “Horns of Terror” may be last but is by no means least and finishes off the EP beautifully. It is just perfectly sounding with such a powerful fast crunchy rhythm.
This is a fantastic EP to add to your collection.
