ALBUM: IF IT BLEEDS Release EP “We Can Kill It”
Belfast based If It Bleeds have released their debut EP “We Can Kill It“.
The eponymous opening track If It Bleeds dives straight for the face like a clenched fist of metal. Ferocious, vicious and immediately grabs your attention. VS1 continues the powered aggression with a relentless riffage of hardcore metal. Driving rhythm, growling vocals and staccato styling its a beautifully vitriolic smashing tune. Revenge is a headbanging tour deforce, slamming home a slower but no less powerful hammer of thunderous metal delivering maleficent drums, guitars and aggressive vocals.
Detachment is another pounding track that has a well coalesced controlled aggression, thumping, smashing and bludgeoning from start to finish. It takes no prisoners and keeps you jumping around like a maniac, probably much to the amusement of your cat or dog. We Can Kill It has a light twinge of Metallica with the rhythm of the vocals before moving straight on to perfectly slam home a distinctive sound of hardcore aggression that makes you want to, once again, mosh angrily around your house desperately trying not to smash the doors off the hinges.
Overall, a very listenable EP, even if you are not into hardcore, its really difficult to not put it on loop for at least a couple of listen throughs. Every song packs a powerful punch from a heavily mailed fist with a perfectly timed crushing groove. Full of power and crushing volume wrapped up in heavy groove guitars, bass and destructive drums tied together with throaty guttural vocals. It should also be at the back of your mind this EP is a perfectly wry reference to an excellent 1987 action movie.
Its a great first EP, well produced with clean sound production. Definitely worth supporting this effort to let If It Bleeds know they have put the effort in and it pays off.
